Ödegaard scores a brace: Arsenal win third game too

Arsenal FC have won their third league game of the season and have made a perfect start to the season. The north Londoners dominated at promoted AFC Bournemouth and temporarily climbed to the top of the table.

The game was less than a quarter of an hour old when Arsenal were already 2-0 up: captain Ödegaard was responsible for the goals on both occasions. First he dusted off Gabriel Jesus’ great solo (5th), then he stole the ball from the Brazilian and scored a brace (11th). But no one at the Gunners was holding a grudge – after all, the North Londoners were on the winning track early on.

The visitors, coached by Mikel Arteta and unchanged from the 4-2 defeat to Leicester City, did not let anything go and dominated with possession football. Bournemouth did not even pose any problems for keeper Ramsdale in the first half.

Saliba curls a wonderful shot into the corner

The Cherries started the second period better and finally had a chance after a Ramsdale error. Lerma shot clearly over (51.). Saliba did better on the other side: The centre-back sent the ball into the corner (54th) and Arsenal scored again with their first chance of the half.

Fortan flattened the action somewhat. Improved home side Bournemouth gave it their all but didn’t make a stab against these Gunners. As in the 0:4 at ManCity, the promoted side failed to score, Tavernier’s free-kick narrowly failing (86.). Arsenal were also denied another, Gabriel Jesus’ goal in the 72nd minute was conceded by the VAR for offside. The final score was therefore 3-0 for the convincing Arteta team.

Arsenal FC will host Fulham FC next Saturday (18:30) in a city duel. In the Premier League, Bournemouth have to face the next heavyweight: Liverpool at 16:00.
