100,000 euros for eLaLiga victory – ‘Zidane 10’ completes double coup for Alaves

Kilian ‘Zidane 10’ Pita celebrated the eLaLiga championship at the weekend, completing the national FIFA double after winning the Cup in April.

Since the eLaLiga Cup in April, ‘Zidane 10’ has shaken up the FIFA scene. He defied the likes of Matias ‘matiasbonanno’ Bonanno and Corentin ‘Maestro’ Thuillier. In the Grand Final of the 2021/22 eLaLiga season, the Deportivo Alaves man secured the national double on Sunday.

The 25-year-old made a clean sweep of the competition: He beat CA Osasuna’s Adri ‘Adri Domenech’ Domenech 3-2 in the round of 16 and followed that up with a 3-1 win over UD Ibiza’s David ‘cone’ Estebanez Barrasa in the quarter-finals. That put him through to the semi-finals of the winner’s bracket against David ‘davidss_07’ Sanchez.

‘JRA’ much improved in second duel

Granada FC’s professional was no match for ‘Zidane 10’ either, a 2-0 win propelling Pita into the first final against Celta Vigo’s Javier ‘JRA’ Romero. The Alaves player made it clear, defeating Romero 7-1 – thereby sending his opponent into the final of the loser’s bracket to await his final opponent.

‘JRA’ redeemed himself by beating ‘cone’ 5-4 to fight his way back into the Grand Final, where he started as an underdog after the previous 7-1 loss. Romero, however, proved to be a much tougher nut to crack in the second encounter. The score was 3-3 after regulation time and extra time was needed.

Pita makes fewer mistakes from the point

‘Zidane 10’ made it 4-3 in the 99th minute, but ‘JRA’ held his nerve and equalised in first-half injury time (105.+2). By now, both opponents were showing signs of tension – and effort – and there was more and more space in the defence.

Nevertheless, the finalists could not add any more, the championship decision had to be made from the point. In the penalty shoot-out, too, ‘Zidane 10’ and ‘JRA’ showed signs of losing concentration after a long weekend – in the end, Pita made one mistake less and prevailed 3:2.

‘Zidane 10’ pockets €100,000

As well as winning his second national title in a matter of weeks, the Deportivo Alaves FIFA professional also enjoyed €100,000 in prize money – €250,000 was paid out in total. Zidane 10′ succeeds Real Sociedad’s Ander ‘Neat’ Tobal, who was crowned Spanish FIFA champion in 2021.
