Vlahovic hits the post, Zapata in luck: draw in the Turin derby

The Turin derby did not find a winner on Saturday evening. Turin FC and Juventus drew 0-0 in the end as a goal by the hosts was disallowed and Vlahovic hit the post

Juventus immediately took control of the game in this derby. The Old Lady had more possession – and scored the first XXL chance: Chiesa’s perfect cross from the right landed with Vlahovic, who thundered the ball against the left post (7th).

Turin FC didn’t show much at first, and then the home side were lucky not to be decimated. Off the ball, Zapata struck his opponent Gatti in the chest/stomach area, leaving the defender writhing in pain (18′). Apparently too little for referee Fabio Maresca and the VAR to send him off – so the attacker, who suggested he had accidentally hit his opponent on the turn, was lucky.

Things got a little heated on the pitch afterwards. It was a derby that did not offer many chances in the first half. The most dangerous was Vlahovic, who failed to beat Torino goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic from close range and also missed the second good opportunity (31′). The teams went into the break goalless a few minutes later

The home side’s goal does not count

The “Granata” came out of the locker room with a real exclamation mark, as Zapata scored to give them the lead (46′). But Bellanova’s foul on Kostic beforehand meant the goal did not count. However, Torino were now a little more active and generally better in the game, which was also reflected in Sanabria’s good headed chance, but Szczesny was on the alert (60′).

Otherwise, there was little in the way of goalscoring opportunities in this intense and hard-fought derby, which was repeatedly interrupted by minor interruptions. There was, however, one excitement shortly before the end, Lazaro headed over from five meters out and missed the chance to win the game (90.+4). The derby thus ended goalless

And what happens next? While Juventus visit Cagliari on Friday (8.45pm), Torino are not back in action until next week on Sunday: I Granata host Frosinone (3pm).
