Thuram, Bulka, Dante: Nice’s mistakes earn PSG a place in the cup semi-finals

Paris Saint-Germain keep their dream of a treble alive: However, the visitors helped their cause with three individual errors in their 3-1 home win over Nice in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

After the 1:1 draw against Reims, PSG needed a reaction. They needed it to keep their dream of a treble alive. In the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, Luis Enrique relied on Dembelé from the start behind Goncalo Ramos and Mbappé. And the attacking trio were in the spotlight right from the start of the game: after five minutes, Dembelé made former Gladbach player Dante look old-fashioned, but Goncalo Ramos headed narrowly over to the right.

Before the end of the first quarter of an hour, it was 1:0 for the favorites because Thuram made a bad mistake in his own penalty area. After a one-two with Fabian, Mbappé finally poked the ball over the line (14′). Ten minutes later it should have been 2-0, but Goncalo Ramos shot over after a fine assist from Zaire-Emery

Nizza’s keeper completely loses his bearings

In the 33rd minute it was still 2:0, because this time Bulka had a blackout: Nice’s keeper failed to receive the ball in the penalty area, then lost his bearings – Dembelé laid on for Fabian.

His very first Coupe de France goal, however, did not give the home side the desired confidence. Instead, Laborde took advantage of ex-Munich player Hernandez shooting at teammate Vitinha to make it 2:1 (37′). The home side were looking precarious up until the break – and were unable to change the picture after the changeover

Lotomba misses a huge double chance

In the 55th minute, right-back Lotomba was alone in front of Donnarumma, but first failed to beat the Italian with a great reflex save and then put the follow-up shot past the left post. PSG then scored out of nowhere – because their opponents helped out again: After a short corner, 40-year-old Dante unhappily extended the ball to the second post, where Lucas Beraldo was allowed to nod in from close range (60′).

PSG invested only the bare minimum in the final half hour, but Nice lacked any sparkling ideas. As a result, Paris progressed to the semi-finals of the French Cup, where Stade Rennes await at the beginning of April. Olympique Lyon and second-division side Valenciennes face off in the other semi-final

First up for PSG, however, is an away game at Montpellier on Sunday (8.45pm), with Nice hosting Lens the day before (9pm).
