Barça too strong for strong Bayern

The winning streak of Bayern in the Euroleague is over. After three victories in a row, the Munich team lost 66:71 (29:28) at second-placed FC Barcelona on Tuesday evening despite a great fight and slipped out of the play-off places again.

The team of Italian coach Andrea Trinchieri is ninth with a record of 11:12 victories. The best scorers for the Munich team were Vladimir Lucic (16 points) and Ognjen Jaramaz (15).

In the first quarter, both defensive lines were in focus. After ten minutes, both the Catalans and FC Bayern scored only nine points. Things became a little more goal-oriented in the second period. With 29:28, the guests went into the dressing room with a narrow lead in a balanced match.

Barça go on a spurt

After the change of ends, Munich initially remained the better team, but were surprised by FC Barcelona at the end of the third quarter. With an 8:0 run, the hosts turned a 33:37 into a 41:37.

In the last ten minutes, it remained a game of equals. The Munich team quickly turned the match around and were ahead 61-56 with just under five minutes to go. Two minutes later, however, the two-time Euroleague champions were leading again (63:61). The Trinchieri team was unable to get a grip on Barcelona’s distance shooters around top scorer Kyle Kuric (20 points) during this phase.

Already on Thursday (20:30/Magentasport), the German top club will play again in the Euroleague against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

FC Barcelona – Bayern Munich 71:66 (28:29)

Best scorers Barcelona: Kuric (20), Mirotic (13)
