A first for the 99ers: Chemnitz reaches the final of the Europe Cup

For the first time in the club’s history, the Bundesliga club from Saxony has reached a European final. The Niners laid the foundation stone with their 98:73 victory in Bilbao a week ago

The Niners Chemnitz have reached the final of the Europe Cup for the first time in their club’s history. Although the club from Saxony lost 73:82 (36:39) at home to Bilbao Basket on Wednesday, it had already laid the foundation for reaching the final with a 98:73 victory in the first leg in the Basque Country. In the final, the runners-up in the German league will face Turkish representative Bahcesehir Koleji from Istanbul. The first leg will take place on April 17 in Chemnitz, the second leg on April 24 in Turkey.

Wesley van Beck, Kaza Kajami-Keane (12 each), Jeff Garrett (11), Tylor Ongwae and Ousman Krubally (10 each) scored the most points for the Niners in the semi-final home game. Melvin Pantzar (15), Kristian Kullamae (14), Keith Hornsby (11), Trygvvi Hlinason and Thijs de Ridder (10 each) played the biggest part in the visitors’ success.
