Jannik Sinner has surpassed a record held by Novak Djokovic. He has also drawn level with another tennis legend.
Tennis star Jannik Sinner has underscored his title ambitions at the ATP Masters in Rome with a record-breaking performance. The world No. 1’s 6-2, 6-4 victory in the quarterfinals against Russia’s Andrey Rublev was his 32nd consecutive win at an ATP 1000 event.
With this, the Italian surpassed the previous record held by Novak Djokovic, who remained undefeated in 31 Masters matches in 2011.
The winning streak includes Sinner’s victory in Paris at the end of 2025 as well as tournament wins at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and Madrid—meaning every ATP Masters since the start of the year. With his victory in Spain’s capital, the 24-year-old had already become the first player to triumph at five consecutive 1000-level events.
Tennis: Sinner Joins Elite Circle Alongside Nadal
But that’s not all: By reaching the semifinals, Jannik Sinner also matched another tennis legend. He is only the second player to reach the semifinals in the first five Masters tournaments of a single season.
Previously, only Rafael Nadal had achieved this feat. The Spaniard even managed this feat twice (2010, 2011).
Ten days before the start of the French Open, Sinner was once again in top form at the Foro Italico and breezed into the final four. Especially in the first set, Rublev had little to offer against the Sinner Express; the world No. 14 was defeated after 38 minutes in the first set and, after putting up slightly more resistance, after 53 minutes in the second set.
In the semifinals, the Italian Sinner will face the winner of the match between Daniil Medvedev and Martin Landaluce. A tournament victory in Rome—he would be the first Italian winner of the Italian Open since 1976—and Sinner would be the youngest player in history to win all the Masters. It would also be his tenth Masters title. Here, the Serbian Djokovic is still the clear leader with 40 titles.
