Diego Dedura stands no chance against Francis Tiafoe. Another German, however, has reason to celebrate.
Professional tennis player Diego Dedura was eliminated in the first round of the ATP tournament in Hamburg. The 18-year-old from Berlin lost his first main-draw match on Sunday to eighth-seeded Frances Tiafoe (USA) 4-6, 4-6. This means the first of six German first-round entrants at Rothenbaum is no longer in the tournament.
Meanwhile, youngster Max Schönhaus qualified for the main draw. The 18-year-old defeated American Marcos Giron 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the qualifying final on Sunday. Henri Squire lost in a no less thrilling match against Australian Rinky Hijikata 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-7 (5-7).
