Rublev qualified for ATP Finals

Russian tennis pro Andrei Rublev has become the fifth player to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin.

Russian tennis pro Andrei Rublev has become the fifth player to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin. The 26-year-old advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Vienna on Thursday, punching his ticket to the season finale of the year’s top eight professionals.

Rublev will challenge top German player Alexander Zverev in Vienna after his 7-5, 6-3 win over Matteo Arnaldi, who also still has a chance of competing in Turin.

Before Rublev, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner had qualified for the season finals. The finals will be held in Turin from November 12 to 19.

Rublew will meet Zverev on Friday in Vienna

Rublew is ranked fifth in the world and has won both the Monte Carlo and Swedish Bastad tournaments this year. Now waiting in the quarterfinals in Vienna on Friday is Zverev, who beat Britain’s Cameron Norrie 6-2, 6-4 the previous evening.

Since 2016, Zverev has won five times in eight duels against Rublev. This year, however, the 26-year-old lost both matches against Rublev.
