“Nothing will change”: Cristiano Ronaldo stays with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to wear the Al-Nassr jersey. The Portuguese player personally put an end to speculation about a transfer after winning the Nations League.

In recent weeks, there have been several rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese player hinted at his departure with a post on Instagram. “This chapter is over,” he wrote, among other things. FIFA President Gianni Infantino also fueled the transfer speculation surrounding the superstar himself by speculating in an interview about a possible move to a Club World Cup participant.

Cristiano Ronaldo himself put an end to the speculation surrounding the Nations League final, which Portugal won on penalties against Spain (5-3). After having practically ruled out participation in the Club World Cup before the final, he clarified his future beyond June 30 – the original end of his expiring contract with Al-Nassr – just a few minutes after the final whistle. “My future? Nothing will change,” said the 40-year-old in the mixed zone.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 93 goals for Al-Nassr so far

According to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, he replied “Sim,” meaning “yes,” when asked “Al Nassr?”

This is his first contract extension with the club from the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh. The five-time world footballer of the year moved from Manchester United to Al-Nassr at the end of 2022. In his two and a half years, CR7 scored 93 goals in 105 competitive games, but was denied a title. Among other things, he “only” finished runner-up in the Saudi Professional League twice (2022/23, 2023/24). By extending his contract, he can remedy this flaw—he always won at least one trophy with his previous four clubs.
