Formula 1 Weather 2022: The current forecast for the race in Singapore

The latest weather forecast for the 17th race of the 2022 Formula 1 season in Singapore, with predictions for the subsequent race in Suzuka

There are very crucial questions on every race weekend of Formula 1 2022. Namely: What is the weather forecast? Can we expect a wet track on site? Will we need intermediates or even rain tyres? Or will it simply remain consistently dry from practice through qualifying to the race and dry tyres will suffice? In short: What do the drivers around Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have to be prepared for?

To be able to answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues a few days before the tests or race weekends begin. And as the event progresses, this preview article is constantly updated with new weather information such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected precipitation for the individual days per weekend.

The result is a weather forecast that is as accurate as possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2022 Formula 1 season. However, all information is without guarantee, as some motorsport venues such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be accurately forecast. Precipitation can also occur there unannounced.

The next time Formula 1 will take to the track at Monza in the Singapore will be from 30 September to 02 October 2022 for the 17th race of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

The latest forecast for the 17th race of the season in Singapore (30 September to 02 October):

For the first time since 2019, the Formula One squad returns to Singapore this weekend for what is by far the most gruelling race of the season at the Marina Bay Circuit, thanks to tropical conditions and a race duration of just under two hours. If everything goes in his favour, Max Verstappen can clinch his second world championship title on these floodlit streets – will the weather gods be on his side?

The first rain showers are expected on Friday morning. Around noon, however, the sun will come out and the temperatures will rise to 30 degrees Celsius. The two practice sessions in the evening will most likely take place under dry conditions.

With the wind coming from the south, the drivers will have to be prepared for crosswinds in the narrow third sector and tailwinds on the start-finish straight, with some gusts reaching top speeds of up to 30km/h.

For the night from Friday to Saturday, the meteorologists are forecasting heavy rain, which will weaken in the morning, but is not expected to stop until midday. Nevertheless, the clouds will not clear and more rain showers are expected throughout the day. The chances of a qualifying session under wet track conditions are accordingly high.

However, the rain will have no effect on the temperatures, which will again reach the 30-degree mark on Saturday. And the wind will also come from the south again, but the intensity will decrease slightly with top speeds around 20 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, heavy rain is expected to continue throughout the day and one or two thunderclouds are also to be expected. The probability of rain during the race is 100 percent.

Accordingly, a Herculean task awaits the riders, also thanks to the outside temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius. The wind, on the other hand, is unlikely to play a role on Sunday. Although the wind direction is constantly changing, the maximum speeds are around 10 km/h.

Note: This forecast will be updated several times during the week!

The first forecast for the following race in Suzuka (09.10.2022):

According to the first forecasts, the formula in Japan expects a mixed weekend. While it will remain dry on Saturday, there is an increased risk of rain on Sunday. With temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, it is supposed to be late summer warm at the Japan return. The forecast wind speeds are around 40 km/h.
