The first tickets to the FIFAe World Cup 2022 have been issued. Dylan ‘DullenMIKE’ Neuhausen managed to get one. Berkay ‘BerkayLion’ Demirci, on the other hand, narrowly missed out.
Both Dylan ‘DullenMIKE’ Neuhausen and Berkay ‘BerkayLion’ Demirci had a suboptimal start to the group phase. Both lost their first match in double elimination – two defeats mean elimination.
As in the play-offs, Neuhausen did not let this upset him. In the loser’s bracket he beat Dylan ‘KeturDylo’ Gozuacik 8:4 after first and second leg, but it was much closer in the decider. There, the German singles champion secured his ticket to Copenhagen by beating Felipe ‘Barreto’ Barreto 3:2. “World Cup, here we go,” he tweeted – decorated with a heart and praying hands.
‘BerkayLion’ dramatic – ‘Ollelito’ at the last minute
There were broken hearts for ‘BerkayLion’. He too was able to make up for the first defeat, but had to chase a deficit again in the deciding match. He was two goals behind against Emre Yilmaz in the first leg (2:4), but fought his way into the penalty shoot-out in the second 90 minutes. In the end, he was defeated by a score of 2:4. “Lost penalty shootout for World Cup,” he wrote on the short message service with three broken hearts behind it.
“WORLD CUP BABYYYYYYYY” was the message on Olle ‘Ollelito’ Arbin’s account. Like the two Germans, the Swede had to take the Loser Bracket route. In the deciding match of the Winner Bracket, he was narrowly defeated by ‘TeamHaji’. In the Loser Bracket it was no less close – but this time in favour of the FUT Champions Cup 3 winner. The result was 2:1 against the Romanian Cosmin ‘Cosmin’ Petrescu.
Tomorrow, Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin, Levy Finn ‘levyfinn’ Rieck and Benedikt ‘BeneCR7’ Bauer will battle it out for a ticket to the FIFAe World Cup in the third and fourth groups.
