Zirkzee and Raman in the middle: Anderlecht leave with 7:0

After a 7:0 win, former champions RSC Anderlecht spend the winter in third place in Belgium. Three ex-Bundesliga professionals also influenced the result.

For weeks now, promoted Royale Union Saint-Gilloise have sensationally been crowned autumn champions in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, but the newcomer has not yet reached its destination. The winner of the last matchday before the winter break was RSC Anderlecht.

While Saint-Gilloise could not get beyond a 0-0 draw against KAA Gent on Sunday and defending champions Club Brugge lost the derby at Cercle 0-2, coach Vincent Kompany’s team dispatched bottom-placed Beerschot 7-0 away from home on Monday.

Among the scorers were Bayern loanee Joshua Zirkzee, who scored his ninth goal in his 19th league appearance, and ex-Schalker Benito Raman, who scored twice as a wild card and now has seven goals for the season.

For the overmatched hosts, former Stuttgart player Raphael Holzhauser was sent off for an emergency foul at 3-0 down (40th minute).
