Game packaging covers are becoming increasingly less important in the traditional, physical sense. GTA VI won’t even have a disc version at launch, and Sony is phasing out physical media for new PlayStation games starting in 2028. And yet, gracing the cover of the FIFA or FC series remains a great honor for professional soccer players—most recently for Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham.
Who will follow in the footsteps of these two childhood friends for EA SPORTS FC 27? The cover star hasn’t been announced yet—the developer is expected to reveal him in the coming weeks. Ahead of that, we asked eSports users: Who should be the face of the new game? Nearly 11,000 votes were cast by the time the results were tallied—and the outcome comes as no surprise. The margin, however, certainly is.
Musiala narrowly beats Dembelé
Bayern’s Michael Olise celebrates a landslide victory with more than 5,000 votes—he secured over 46 percent. This puts him well ahead of his FCB teammate Harry Kane, who received 2,254 votes (just over 20 percent). Behind them, Musiala just barely makes it into third place (8.04 percent)—narrowly ahead of reigning Ballon d’Or winner and Champions League champion Ousmane Dembelé (7.99 percent).
7.5 percent of voters would like to see Erling Haaland make a comeback on the cover. The bottom three are, like the top three, all from the same club: Kylian Mbappé (4.88 percent), Bellingham (3.09 percent), and Vinicius Junior (1.7 percent) received the fewest votes. Could this be related to the weak and chaotic season they’ve just had with Real Madrid?
A total of 10,918 votes had been cast by the time of the tally.
