Without Süle against Villarreal – Tolisso’s sad outlook

On Sunday, the suspicion was confirmed: Niklas Süle will not be present on Tuesday against Villarreal. The defender is ill.

The fear was confirmed this Sunday when the Bayern professionals met at the club centre on Säbener Straße: Niklas Süle (26), who was supposed to defend at inside right against Augsburg on Saturday but had to miss out due to a fever, was unable to start his preparation for the quarter-final II against Villarreal (Tuesday, 9pm) and will not be healthy until matchday.

The defender is ill with influenza and will miss the important Champions League second leg – the Spaniards won the first game 1-0.

Hernandez ready for action

Lucas Hernandez (26) , defender inside left and outside, on the other hand, is ready for action again. He had received a blow to his thigh in the defeat at Villarreal last Wednesday and was unable to play because of what is known as a horse kiss.

The French World Cup winner will be Dayot Upamecano’s (23) first partner in the centre of defence as they now look to book their place in the 2021/22 premier league semi-finals.

Choupo-Moting gets back in after Villarreal

Besides Süle, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (33) will continue to be missing. The striker was allowed to leave quarantine last Thursday after his COVID infection, but is still suffering from knee problems that proved not to be that serious after an MRI examination. Choupo-Moting will continue his individual training this Monday and join the full squad after the game against Villarreal, as will Bouna Sarr (30), who is hampered by a patella tendon.

Tolisso threatens farewell without comeback

Corentin Tolisso (28) will take another three to four weeks to recover from another torn muscle fibre, raising the question of whether he will be able to play at all again this season. Moreover, with his contract expiring and not being renewed, the French midfielder and World Cup winner faces a sad prospect: a farewell without a comeback.
