Transfer News: The Latest on Harry Maguire, Willian, Courtois and More

The transfer deadline is fast approaching and there is a huge amount of excitement as teams look to strengthen their existing squads and replace their wantaway players.

Mourinho’s wish list

Mourinho has been moaning about his squad again, telling reporters that he gave the club a list of five players that he wanted and he has not got any of them yet. Who will have been on Mourinho’s wish list? Gareth Bale is probably one that was on the list but can be ruled out with him preferring to stay at Real Madrid. It is no secret that Mourinho has been looking to strengthen his central defence either, with Harry Maguire being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. There is knowledge that Maguire will not push Leicester to sell but would be interested in making the move.

Another player that could well be on Mourinho’s five-man wish list is Willian, who looked like he was heading to Barcelona earlier in the summer. Now it looks like Real Madrid might also be interested in buying the Brazilian. Chelsea is looking at the American wonder kid, Christian Pulisic as a possible replacement for the winger.

Pickford set for new contract

After an impressive World Cup campaign, Jordan Pickford has been lined up as a possible replacement for Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea. Courtois has just one year left on his contract and has made it clear he wants to move to Real Madrid. Pickford only joined Everton a year ago but his club wants him signed to another long-term contract to try and put off other clubs.

No Tottenham return for Bale

Mauricio Pochettino has stated that a return to Tottenham is unlikely for Gareth Bale but that does not mean there won’t be some other new arrivals at the club.

Liverpool youngster Woodburn goes on loan to Aston Villa

Ben Woodburn will be gaining some valuable playing experience at Aston Villa in the Championship after a season-long loan was agreed. With Woodburn’s chances with the first team looking slim, Klopp is happy for him to join Aston Villa’s campaign for promotion.
