NFL’s Miami Dolphins welcome Miami Jackson Senior High School as part of the Junior Dolphins program

As part of the Miami Dolphins’ commitment to the development of high school and youth football, the team is hosting a total of 27 high school and youth teams from the region at the team’s training camp facilities this summer. The team visits are initiated by head coach Adam Gase in an effort to inspire the kids in the Miami region, as well as show them the positive effects football has when it comes to character building.

Yesterday, members of the Miami Jackson Senior High School took the field and observed Dolphins’ practice before meeting the players.

“I was excited to see Cameron Wake because I feel like he’s a superior d-lineman and I try to match my game to his game,” – Miami Dolphins welcome Miami Jackson Senior High School, senior at Miami Jackson Senior High School

The high school kids were given a tour of the Nova Southeastern University training facility and had the pleasure of listening to a motivational speech by Miami Dolphins Youth Programs Ambassador and former player Twan Russell.

“This is something for them to aspire and grow to and hopefully they’ll be here one day,”

“The Miami Dolphins do a lot of things for the kids – they have a lot of programs going on – so we really appreciate them showing our school some love.” – Miami Jackson Senior High School head coach Scott Daniels.

Twan Russell’s talk was mostly about character building and how to overcome life obstacles in order to reach your goals.

“I learned to keep trying hard and they don’t take practice too lightly. They do what they’re supposed to do.” – Micah Douglas

The Junior Dolphins program

The Junior Dolphins program is designed to allow children the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game through interaction with the best. To grow the game, the Junior Dolphins program intends to educate coaches, parents and youth on the health and safety of football providing a strong emphasis on character development.

Since 2017, the Miami Dolphins organization has hosted 44 teams and more than 1,500 student-athletes at its training facilities.
