Title hat-trick: Royal Never Give Up wins MSI 2022

Royal Never Give Up was able to defend its title in the final of the Mid-Season Invitational 2022. In the end, the team narrowly won against T1 in the final.

After five games it was clear: Royal Never Give Up (RNG) is the best team in the world in League of Legends. They defeated T1 3-2 in five games in the final of the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), meaning T1 star player Sang-hyeok ‘Faker’ Lee has still been waiting five years for another international title.

For RNG, moreover, it is not only their title defence but also their third MSI triumph. With this, the organisation moves past T1. The South Korean team has lifted the trophy twice. MVP of the final is RNG jungler Yan ‘Wei’ Yang-Wei, who dominated especially in the third and fifth games.

Advantage RNG – Counter T1

The Chinese team went ahead from the start, securing the first game through team fights and not letting the atmosphere rattle them. T1’s hope: to win the match in close and exciting fights with the help of the home crowd.

They came back again and again, even in the difficult fourth game. There, RNG could have already put the lid on it. They did so in the all-important fifth game – also because they did not let ‘Faker’ develop. The star was always put under pressure.

For him and his colleagues, all eyes are now on the Summer Split and then the World Championship, for which T1 and RNG are already favourites.
