The WWE megashow WrestleMania 41 is taking place later than ever this year. what’s behind it.
Where is WrestleMania? One or two WWE fans who don’t keep a close eye on the league’s event calendar may have wondered this year.
The mega show, which traditionally took place at the beginning of April or the end of March, is taking place later than ever this year. Now the two-day event in the NFL stadium in Las Vegas is scheduled for the Easter weekend on April 19 and 20.
WrestleMania 41 at Easter – why so late?
A year ago, WWE President Nick Khan already hinted in the podcast On The Town that he thought the timing of WrestleMania 40 last year (April 6 and 7, 2024) was a mistake.
This WrestleMania is “the last one we inherited from the previous regime,” Khan emphasized, referring to his previous boss Vince McMahon, who resigned in early 2024 after serious scandal allegations. He said that future WrestleManias should be expected to take place “a little later in April,” and that discussions were ongoing.
Two weeks later, at an appearance at the World Congress of Sports, Khan explained what had particularly bothered him last year: “Holding it on the East Coast in an outdoor stadium in early April: Don’t expect to see that again. Going head-to-head with the Final Four of March Madness: Don’t expect to see that again.”
WrestleMania 40 took place in Philadelphia, at a time when evening temperatures were around 10 degrees Celsius. In Las Vegas, fans can expect more pleasant evening conditions of around 20 degrees Celsius this coming weekend.
