Ahead of their game against AS Monaco, Paris St. Germain have announced the contract extensions of numerous key players. Head coach Luis Enrique also remains on board.
“The future is being written in Paris,” was the message on Friday evening when PSG fans at the Parc des Princes were given several pieces of positive news. The highlights: the extensions with head coach Luis Enrique (until 2027), Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha and Nuno Mendes (all until 2029).
While 18-year-old Yoram Zague also signed an early contract extension until 2028, two more home-grown players, Ibrahim Mbaye and Naoufel El Hannach, signed their first professional contracts with the capital club until 2027.
Luis Enrique has “driven cultural change”
“We are delighted to announce the extension of our coach Luis Enrique and six fantastic players who will continue to shape their future at Paris St. Germain,” said President Nasser Al-Khelaifi in a statement. The 51-year-old is ‘particularly grateful’ to the head coach, ‘who has driven great progress and a cultural change at the club in such a short time’.
Luis Enrique himself was also “happy” to remain connected with the City of Love and PSG beyond the coming summer: “I feel very comfortable here, we have everything we need to work under the best possible conditions. I think the future looks very promising and I hope to celebrate many more successes with the club,” said the Spaniard, who has been working on the Seine for over a year and a half.
