Schatzschneider meets Terodde: “You know where you play on Fridays?”

Hannover legend Dieter Schatzschneider (63) and Schalke’s goal scorer Simon Terodde (33) still lead the second division goal scorers with 153 goals each – this could change on Friday. Schatzschneider therefore makes a clear request to his potential pretender to the throne.

On Friday evening, Terodde could overtake Schatzschneider in Schalke’s guest game in Hannover (18.30, LIVE! on kicker) – in the hometown of the long-time record holder, of all places. “You know where you play on Fridays?”, Schatzschneider therefore reminded Terodde in a video chat published by Schalke.  “It would be nice if you leave your hunger for goals a bit this Friday. “

“I wish you all the worst for Friday, that you don’t score. “

DIETER SCHATZSCHNEIDER WITH A WINK TO SIMON TERODDE

A wish Terodde could not promise to fulfil, of course. “I would sign that if I don’t score and we still win 2-0,” Terodde replied. He said he himself could hold back, but “my team-mates are motivated and we must also have the three points. “

Schatzschneider: “Man, Terodde is really worthy.

Schatzschneider was the sole record holder for almost 25 years, but the fact that he will soon be rid of his record no longer makes him nostalgic. He is happy and grateful “that I can still experience this. Especially since his potential successor makes it easy for him to “let go”: “I feel like saying, ‘Man, Terodde is really worthy’.” Worthy not only as a goal scorer, but also as a team player. “You don’t let the star hang out, but run to the back and fight,” Schatzschneider praised Terodde, “you’re not captain for nothing. “

Terodde makes clear announcements – Schatzschneider influenced the line-up

Because they both agree on one thing: without their teammates, their personal success would not be possible.  “A centre-forward needs the assists and the balls in the penalty area,” said Terodde. In this respect, he already makes clear announcements to his colleagues: “I demand from Ouwejan (defender Thomas Ouwejan; ed.) that the balls come.” On the other hand, Terodde is not above approaching the provider of the ball after a few missed chances and saying: “Sorry, I should have scored one of them.

It was even easier for Schatzschneider in his day: “I was allowed to decide,” Schatzschneider reported, saying that he was able to influence the line-up: “I did that, that’s clear. For example, he demanded that “someone play on the right who can cross to some extent”. Or a player behind him “who could put the ball in on my right.” Because “with two blind men next to me who don’t pass the ball”, he would never have been able to score the number of goals he did.
