Ahead of Hannover: Grammozis attests Terodde a “crisis”

At Schalke, things have been going well lately, which has been linked to one name in particular. But is Hannover 96 possibly Simon Terodde’s kryptonite?

It’s become a bit tedious to dig up Simon Terodde’s statistics against this or that second-division opponent to prove that he could once again become the matchwinner – they all read well, after all. All of them?

In six duels with Schalke’s upcoming opponents Hannover 96 so far, the record goal scorer of the 2nd Bundesliga has not yet managed a victory and has actually only scored one goal.

“With Simon, you could call it a crisis,” grinned his coach Dimitrios Grammozis ahead of the Knappen’s guest game at the club where legend Dieter Schatzschneider, with whom Terodde still shares the record, will in all likelihood be sitting in the stadium when that is possibly no longer the case.

No one-on-one with Latza

Schatzschneider could be just one of more than 40,000 spectators Hannover will be allowed to open their gates to after the international break on Friday night. It was a break in which some Schalke players “rested as much as they could” (Thomas Ouwejan), but in which others also got closer to the team again.

“Danny Latza was able to do some parts in training again,” Grammozis revealed – “which didn’t involve tackling, though.” The same would have applied to Salif Sané and Blendi Idrizi. Now it remains to be seen “when the boys will rejoin the team”. With two wins to nil and a fourth-place finish, that should be quite possible.
