Marco Reus and champions Los Angeles Galaxy’s horror season has reached another painful chapter. Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi, also had an evening to forget.
Even a brace from the former international in the city derby against Los Angeles FC was not enough to secure the hoped-for first win of the season, with the final score on Monday night 2-2 (1-1).
Reus gave the Galaxy the lead in “El Trafico” in Carson with his first goal of the season (6′). After goals from Denis Bouanga (13th minute) and Nathan Ordaz (50th minute) for LAFC against goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, the 35-year-old saved a point with a late free kick (87th minute). Nevertheless, the defending champions remain far behind at the bottom of the MLS table.
Inter Miami loses to Orlando
Lionel Messi had a completely wasted evening as Inter Miami lost 3-0 to Orlando City. The derby defeat was the fifth in the last seven competitive games, in which only one win was achieved. Inter is now only sixth in the Eastern Conference.
Messi only had two shots on goal. “Now we’ll see if we’re really a team in difficult times,” the Argentine world champion told Apple TV. “When everything is going well, it’s very easy. But now we have to stick together more than ever.”
