Request for waiver rejected: Koeman severance pay will be really expensive for Barça

The modest financial situation of FC Barcelona is not getting any better. The dismissal of coach Ronald Koeman is likely to cost the Catalans twelve million euros

The contracts, they have not always been concluded wisely at FC Barcelona in recent years. This also applies to that of coach Ronald Koeman, whom the Catalans sacked after just 14 months in charge.

The worst start to the season since 1987/88 was also blamed on the Dutchman, who now faces a hefty severance package. The financially strapped FCB is currently trying to mitigate this, but his former coach seems to think little of it.
According to the Catalan TV channel TV3,

Barça is asking Koeman for a waiver of around four million euros, while Koeman wants to collect the full twelve million he is entitled to instead of the partial sum offered.

Club legend Xavi continues to be traded as his successor, with another former Barça player taking over on an interim basis in the form of Sergi.
