One-sided classic: Alba defeats Bamberg again

Champion Alba Berlin continues to dominate the old basketball classic with former series champion Brose Bamberg.

Two days after their clear victory in the opener, the capitals prevailed again on Sunday and lead 2-0 after the 97:85 (47:34) in the best-of-five series. The best scorer of the favourites was Jaleen Smith with 18 points. FC Bayern München is also on course so far. The Euroleague quarter-finalist defeated the Niners Chemnitz in the evening with 93:76 (49:26) and also leads with 2:0.

Bamberg and Chemnitz would have to win three games in a row to advance. The next two games would take place in Bamberg, a possible fifth game would again be in Berlin. In the following semi-final, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and ratiopharm Ulm are the possible opponents for Alba or Bamberg. Ludwigsburg had won the first game on Saturday after two overtimes.

For the Munich team, Deshaun Thomas was the best scorer with 22 points. The former fearful opponent Chemnitz, who had won all three of their mandatory duels before the playoffs this season, has so far been unable to counter Bayern’s offensive power. Thus, there were seven home wins in seven games on the first play-off weekend.
