Oldenburg’s losing streak continues after Corona break

The EWE Baskets Oldenburg remain in crisis after the almost four-week Corona break. MLP Academics Heidelberg won 92-83 (75-75, 43-40) after overtime against the Löwen Braunschweig.

The Oldenburg side, who started the season as play-off contenders, lost 57-79 (39-43) to MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg on Saturday and remain bottom of the Basketball Bundesliga after their fourth defeat in a row with a record of 2-10 wins. Ludwigsburg (11-6), on the other hand, climbed to fourth place for the time being.

As so often this season, the hosts were better in the first quarter (17:12), but then collapsed. Ludwigsburg turned a deficit into a four-point lead by the break. After the change of ends, the North Germans were no longer able to counter the physically superior guests due to the long corona-related training break and conceded a clear home defeat. Jonah Radebaugh and 18-year-old Jacob Patrick were the best scorers for the visitors with 14 points each.

MLP Academics Heidelberg won 92-83 (75-75, 43-40) after overtime at the Löwen Braunschweig and are now in 13th place with 6-10 wins, directly behind the Lower Saxons (6-9). Brekkott Chapman with 23 points and twelve rebounds and Kelvin Martin with 20 points and eight ball wins were decisive for the guests. Martin scored with the final siren in regulation time to equalise the score at 75-75.
