Rokas Jokubaitis is reportedly on the verge of a move to FC Bayern Basketball. The Lithuanian guard is apparently invoking an exit clause at Maccabi Tel Aviv and could take on a central role in Munich.
Following the expected departure of Nick Weiler-Babb and the uncertain future of Carsen Edwards, FC Bayern Basketball is apparently responding with a prominent new signing: Rokas Jokubaitis is on the verge of a move to Munich. This is being reported by several media outlets, including German journalist Robert Heusel.
According to the reports, the 24-year-old Lithuanian has invoked a war clause in his contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, despite an ongoing contract until 2027 and an improved offer of over one million euros net per year. The move to the Isar is now said to be imminent.
Strong EuroLeague guard with NBA rights
Jokubaitis had a strong 2024/25 season in the EuroLeague. He averaged 12.6 points and 4.6 assists in 28 games for Maccabi Tel Aviv and developed into a leading player in the backcourt. The 1.93-meter playmaker previously played for Zalgiris Kaunas and FC Barcelona.
The left-hander is considered technically skilled, strong in pick-and-roll and has a high level of game intelligence. His NBA rights are currently held by the New York Knicks after he was drafted 34th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2021.
Bayern plans next step
Jokubaitis’ move would be part of a larger squad restructuring at FC Bayern. Following the imminent departure of Nick Weiler-Babb to Anadolu Efes, the Lithuanian would fill the gap. Wenyen Gabriel is also close to signing as a replacement for Devin Booker, who is leaving FCBB for another EuroLeague club.
With Jokubaitis, Munich would gain an internationally experienced point guard who could play a key role in both the EuroLeague and the BBL. The Lithuanian fits well into the team’s offensive structure, which is characterized by a fast pace and lots of three-point attempts.
