Kevin De Bruyne’s transfer to Napoli appears to be getting closer. This has now been confirmed by another club representative from Campania.
Kevin De Bruyne has already made his mark in England and Germany, and now the Belgian could be set to make his mark in another major league. Rumors of a move to SSC Napoli in Serie A have been circulating for some time and seem anything but far-fetched. As Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has now stated, the Belgian is even “very close” to a move to the newly crowned champions.
The flamboyant club president Aurelio De Laurentiis had previously told TG2 that he was “serious” about De Bruyne and that he had already bought “a beautiful villa” in Italy.
Even contract details have already been leaked. Despite his age of 33, De Bruyne is said to be getting a three-year contract. “He’s a champion, it would be a sign and perfect for our project,” De Laurentiis told the newspaper Il Mattino di Napoli, adding: “If we want to remain stable at the top of European football, we have to think big.”
With the signing of De Bruyne, who once played in the Bundesliga for Bremen and Wolfsburg, Napoli would settle another important personnel matter. Coach Antonio Conte had previously stated that he would remain loyal to the club despite rumors of a possible return to Juventus Turin.
De Bruyne would come on a free transfer
Playmaker De Bruyne would not cost the Campania club a transfer fee. His contract with Manchester City expires after ten years, and he will not be playing in the Club World Cup. However, he will remain a statue in front of the Etihad Stadium for City fans, as was announced after his last appearance in front of his home crowd against Bournemouth (3-1). He follows in the footsteps of Sergio Aguero, David Silva, and Vincent Kompany.
