In the fourth game of the final “best-of-five” series, the Aces defeated the Sun 78-71 to secure the first title in franchise history by going 3-1.

Hammon clinches title – New coach for Sabally

Championship coach is Becky Hammon. The 45-year-old former player made a name for herself as assistant coach to NBA legend Greg Popovich at the San Antonio Spurs – now she celebrated the title in her first season in the women’s league.

The German national player Satou Sabally had previously failed in the quarter-finals with the Dallas Wings. The Texans lost 2-1 in the best-of-three series against the eventual finalists from Connecticut.

The Wings let Vicky Johnson’s contract expire and want to work with someone else for the coming season in the WNBA. They made the announcement on Monday. Sabally has played for Dallas since 2020.
