Knicks receive further rejections: talks with top coaches turned down

The New York Knicks have been rejected twice in their search for a new coach. According to several media reports, both the Houston Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves have refused to allow the franchise to hold talks with their head coaches.

The Knicks wanted to talk to Ime Udoka and Chris Finch as part of their ongoing search for a coach, but both requests were rejected. As ESPN confirmed on Tuesday evening, both the Houston Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves refused to allow talks with their respective head coaches.

Udoka led the Rockets back to the playoffs in his second season, finishing second in the Western Conference. Finch also had a successful season, leading the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals for the second year in a row.

List of rejections grows – what will happen to Kidd

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd remains another option, but the Knicks have not yet made an official request for talks. According to ESPN, however, Dallas is also expected to reject the offer. Another candidate is already out of the running: Jay Wright, the former coach of Villanova, declined last week.

The search for a new head coach in New York continues without a clear favorite – and with a growing list of rejections.
