Jehan Daruvala to be teammate of Maximilian Günther at Maserati MSG

Jehan Daruvala will compete alongside Maximilian Günther for Maserati MSG in the upcoming Formula E season – The German agrees multi-year contract

The dream of the premier class is over? After four years in Formula 2, Jehan Daruvala is moving to Maserati MSG in Formula E. The 24-year-old Indian will become a teammate of Maximilian Günther, who will also stay with the team and contest his sixth Formula E season. Günther is signing a “multi-year contract”.

“I am very happy to be able to fight for the Formula E world championship title again for Maserati MSG Racing next year and beyond,” says Günther, who celebrated one victory last season and finished seventh in the drivers’ standings. “We showed what we are made of in 2023 and I am convinced that we will be even stronger in the coming season.”

“We will work hard, develop steadily and give everything to achieve even more success,” the 26-year-old believes. “We were on the podium four times last season and first place at the Indonesian E-Prix was undoubtedly the highlight for the team.”

“It makes me immensely proud to have been able to give Maserati its first victory in a Formula series since 1957,” Günther said. “We will build on these successes and I go into the 2024 season with a great feeling. To be in action again for such a prestigious team as Maserati MSG Racing is something I feel is a great privilege. “

Daruvala moves from Mahindra to Maserati

After Edoardo Mortara left the team, current Formula 2 driver Daruval joins. The Indian was Mahindra’s official reserve driver last season and gained his first Formula E experience during rookie tests in Berlin and Rome.

“I have always been itching to get out on the track as a race driver. You don’t want to stand on the sidelines, you want to sit in the car and actually drive,” Daruvala told Autosport/Motorsport.com. “Formula E is very different to what I’ve done in the past in all the other junior formulas, so I’ve had to learn a lot. “

“Being on the sidelines [as a reserve driver] for a season was, I think, quite good. I learned a lot behind the scenes,” the Indian believes. “I guess everyone thought because I was Mahindra’s reserve driver I would go there, but I have always been a driver who wanted the best for myself. My managers want the best for me and we got this opportunity from Maserati.”

“It was a great opportunity for me because Maserati is a great brand,” said a grateful Daruvala, who has already celebrated four wins in the current Formula 2 season. “They have a great heritage and I can’t wait to represent the trident. “
