Erling Haaland will play for the Norwegian national team with a new name on his jersey in the future.
Fans of the 25-year-old will have to get used to a new sight. The Manchester City striker will now wear his full surname on his back when playing for the Norwegian national team. As confirmed by the Norwegian Football Association in response to an inquiry from the German Press Agency, the 25-year-old will now wear “Braut Haaland” on his back instead of “Haaland.”

The former Bundesliga pro will present his new name on the national team jersey for the first time in a friendly match against Finland on September 4. Whether the striker will also wear the name Braut Haaland on his Manchester City jersey remains to be seen.
For Norway’s national coach Stale Solbakken, this decision makes no difference. “That’s his name, so it’s no more difficult,” the former coach of 1. FC Köln is quoted as saying in the Spanish newspaper “Marca.” However, he said he had not known anything about it until now.
