Fury’s father causes a scandal

Fury’s father causes an uproar with a headbutt ahead of the cracking duel between world boxing champion Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. He later apologizes

Just a few days before the boxing showdown of the year between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, things are already hotting up between the two camps. At the center: Fury’s father John!

The 59-year-old was involved in a scuffle during a media event ahead of Saturday’s heavyweight fight against Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In the heated altercation, John Fury went head to head with a member of Usyk’s team. Initially, Fury, known for his aggressive behavior, was able to be separated from his opponent, but just seconds later he headbutted another member of the Ukrainian fighter’s team. Fury escaped with a gash on his forehead, blood dripping down his face, while two bodyguards defused the situation.

During the scuffle, he kept shouting “Fury, Fury”. Apparently Fury senior had felt provoked by chants of “Usyk, Usyk”. Tyson Fury was not in the room during the action

Fury apologizes for headbutt

John Fury reportedly apologized for his behavior later on Monday. “The emotion and the tension is unbearable. This guy was extremely disrespectful. If you get too close to a fighter, you catch something. Respect for my son is important to me and he didn’t show it. The cut? It doesn’t bother me, we live to fight. For me it’s normal,” Fury said in an interview with Seconds Out.

The duel between Fury and Usyk is considered the biggest heavyweight fight of this millennium. One of the two will leave the ring on Sunday night with all four major world championship belts (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO).
