16 races, 34 drivers and twelve different race winners: The 2023 DTM season made history several times over – The best records, anniversaries & Co. at a glance

The 2023 DTM season, the first year under the management of the ADAC, will be remembered by motorsport fans: At the 16 races of the season on eight different racetracks in Germany and neighboring countries

Even though Manthey EMA driver Thomas Preining was crowned champion in the end, the 2023 DTM season was fiercely contested right up to the finale in Hockenheim: there were twelve different race winners over the course of the year, with five drivers standing on the top step of the podium for the first time. Franck Perera achieved the first DTM victory for Lamborghini and also made history in the process.

With Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari, six manufacturers were on the grid, all of whom were able to celebrate at least one victory. Every centimeter and every tenth of a second was fought for: runner-up Mirko Bortolotti won the race at the Lausitzring by just 0.353 seconds ahead of Ricardo Feller – the closest finish of the year!

Motorsport fans didn’t want to miss out on so much excitement: According to the ADAC, a total of 431,800 spectators were counted in the 2023 season. More than 100,000 fans attended the race at the Norisring in Nuremberg, even though the temperatures reached 35 degrees Celsius.

DTM champion Preining was the only driver to score maximum points in one weekend: He not only took pole position at Hockenheim on Saturday and Sunday, but also both race wins. The Austrian thus collected a total of 56 points and made his title win perfect.
