FeCWC: Six out of eight – German teams in the play-offs in large numbers

Six German teams led by RB Leipzig and IQONIC have secured a place in the play-offs for the FIFAe Club World Cup 2022 via the online qualifiers.

While in all other zones the fourth and last week of the Online Qualifiers had to be postponed to the end of May due to a bug, the games were played in Europe. The zone “Eastern and Central Europe”, which is relevant from our point of view, produced six German qualifiers for the play-offs of the FIFAe Club World Cup.

In the first conference, the IQONIC organisation came out on top in the fourth week of play, with Joe ‘JH7’ Hellmann and Nicolas ‘Nisi’ Muntwyler defeating Reply Totem Esports in the final to also secure progression. IQONIC had previously triumphed against Hertha BSC and 1. FC Köln.

RBLZ dominate second conference

The Cologne side have made the leap above the Consistency Ranking, which they lead after completing the online Qualifier phase. As the runner-up in this ranking, VfL Bochum also slipped into the play-offs. Besides Hertha BSC, FC Basel also failed to make it out of Conference 1.

The second Conference was dominated by RB Leipzig, Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin and Anders ‘Anders’ Vejrgang beat FC Schalke 04 in the final after 2:3 and 4:2. By reaching the final, the “Knappen” Hasan ‘Hasoo’ Eker and Julius ‘Juli’ Kühle are also represented in the play-offs on June 9 and 10.

FOKUS, BVB and Leverkusen are out

Via Consistency Ranking, the qualifying field from Conference 2 was completed by the Swiss organisation NEO with the two German eNational players Dylan ‘DullenMIKE’ Neuhausen and Kai ‘Hensoo’ Hense. VfL Wolfsburg also still slipped into the play-offs thanks to consistently strong performances.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and the FOKUS CLAN led by world champion Mohammed ‘MoAuba’ Harkous were eliminated. This failure is particularly bitter for the “Werkself” of Marc ‘Marc_ldw23’ Landwehr and Furkan ‘FurkyPlayz’ Kayacik, who lost to the Schalkers in the final of the loser’s bracket.

Fnatic and City on top in Northern Europe

In the other two European zones, big names and teams have also reached the next round on their way to the FIFAe Club World Cup. Fnatic topped Conference 2 in “Northern Europe” with Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt and Diogo ‘Diogo’ Mendes, while Manchester City dominated the first Conference.

In Western and Southern Europe, DUX Gaming, Team Gullit and Ajax Amsterdam were among the teams to book a ticket to the play-offs. In the six zones in Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas, the fourth week will be played between 26 and 28 May, after which the complete play-off field will be determined.
