For the second year in a row, VfB Stuttgart is in the cup final. On the field, the Swabians are focused on the Bundesliga, but plans are already underway for the blockbuster match against FC Bayern in Berlin.
In the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart is still fighting for a spot in the Champions League; currently, the Swabians are separated only by goal difference (+20) from their rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen (+23) and TSG Hoffenheim (+16), who are tied on points. On the field, VfB’s focus is therefore entirely on the league, where a blockbuster home match against the Werkself is scheduled for Saturday, before the team heads to Frankfurt for the season finale.
After that, another real blockbuster awaits Stuttgart in the DFB Cup Final on Saturday, May 23 (8 p.m.). After all, they’ll be facing FC Bayern Munich, who are back in the final for the first time since 2020—and plans for that are already moving forward. As VfB announced, the white-and-red fans will be able to get in the mood on Friday and Saturday (May 22 and 23) at Berlin’s Alexanderplatz, where the fan festival at “Alex” will take place.
A colorful program of events, including music and food, will be provided, the reigning cup champion added. The event is set to begin on Friday afternoon, with the exact time to be “announced shortly.” On Saturday, the Fanfest will open its doors at 10 a.m. to offer VfB fans the “perfect way to get in the mood for the final.”
The VfB immediately provided a good reason to start the trip to Berlin as early as Friday by once again highlighting the DFB Cup final for the juniors. In that match, Stuttgart’s U-19 team will face VfL Wolfsburg’s youth squad—in Potsdam, just 36 kilometers from Berlin. Kickoff at Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion is at 5 p.m.
Stuttgart in White—and as Visitors
The Stuttgart club also shared further details about the “grand final” between the defending champions and the record cup winners. The Cannstatt supporters will be seated around the Marathontor, from where they will be able to cheer on VfB. It has also been confirmed that coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s team will take the field in white jerseys with a red chest stripe and will use the visitors’ locker room.
