Laura Siegemund is out of the tournament in Nottingham. The only German player in the tournament narrowly missed out on the second round.
German tennis player Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) has been eliminated in the first round of the WTA tournament in Nottingham. The 37-year-old lost a long battle against Rebecca Sramkova from Slovakia 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-7 (6-8). Her opponent ended the match after more than three hours.
Siegemund had secured her place in the main draw of the grass court tournament with two wins in qualifying. This means that the only German player in her season debut on grass has already been eliminated. Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) did not compete after her victory at the grass court tournament at Queen’s Club in London on Sunday.
