In La Liga there was the first change after matchday 7. It caught the coach Francisco Rodriguez from the bottom team Elche.
This was announced by the club from the Mediterranean coast on Tuesday, after Elche had lost very late at Rayo Vallecano with 1:2.
The Rodriguez team conceded the decisive goal in injury time. Vallecano wild card Unai Lopez’s dream goal sent Elche’s coaching chair toppling after their fifth consecutive defeat. Elche are still waiting for their first win in La Liga, and Rodriguez himself spoke after the game of a situation that was “untenable”.
Rodriguez has been in charge of FC Elche since November 2021 and led the club to 13th place last season. It is not yet known who will succeed him at Elche.
Next Monday, the club at the bottom of the table will play host to RCD Mallorca.
