Dele Alli told he’ll lose against Messi

Dele Alli conducted a playful interview with BT Sport’s young star Charlotte and revealed he’s looking forward to facing Lionel Messi in the Champions League.

#TakeThemAllOn: Charlotte vs Dele

Tottenham Hotspur was pitted against Messi’s Barcelona in Thursday’s Champions League draw. They will face the Catalan giants for the first time on October 3rd at Wembley. It will be Dele Alli’s first taste of the Argentinian superstar and according to Charlotte, it will not go well. Asked to name the best player he’s ever played against, Alli responded:

“I’d say, Ronaldo, because I haven’t played against Messi yet.”

Charlotte’s follow up question was whether Tottenham’s budding star wanted to face Messi, to which he replied he did, prompting the young girl to say:

“You’ll probably be going to lose against Messi”

Alli also revealed his best friends at Tottenham are Eric [Dier], Trips [Kieran Trippier] and Kyle [Walker-Peters] and said he hoped to win his first trophy with the team by the time he turns 23 (in April).

Tottenham’s tough Champions League group

Other than Barcelona, The Spurs were drawn against Inter and PSV Eindhoven, so they’ll have six demanding Champions League encounters on their schedule. Tottenham is no stranger to difficult CL fixtures, though. Last season, they finished undefeated and topped a group which included Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, only to be painfully knocked out by Juventus in the round of 16, despite outplaying the Italian champions.

The Lilywhites’ final fixture is at the Camp Nou, which means ensuring qualification before the visit would be ideal.

The Search for trophies continues for The Spurs

Dele Alli and his Tottenham Hotspur were off to a perfect start in the Premier League until they travelled to Watford this weekend. Despite claiming an early advantage, Mauricio Pochettino’s team was beaten for the first time this season thanks to two set-piece headers by Troy Deeney and Shane Cathcart. Next on their schedule is a home clash with Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool.

Despite being one of the top teams in England over the past few years, The Spurs are still looking for their first trophy. Last season, an FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester United was the closest they got to a title. This season, this determined squad is ready to bring some silverware to North London.
