Boxing: Kabayel on the undercard of Joshua and Wilder

The German European heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel will step into the ring shortly before Christmas in Saudi Arabia on the undercard of two superstars

The German European heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel (31) will step into the ring shortly before Christmas on a superlative boxing evening in Saudi Arabia on the undercard of superstars Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. The Bochum native will face the unbeaten Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov (34) on December 23 in Riyadh.

Under the motto “Day of Reckoning”, Briton Joshua will then fight Sweden’s Otto Wallin, who once brought world champion Tyson Fury to the brink of defeat. Wilder will take on New Zealand’s former world champion Joseph Parker – both are hoping for another world championship opportunity and could meet next year.

Kabayel won the European title against Croatian Agron Smakici in March and remained unbeaten in his 23rd professional fight. “Makhmudov is an aggressive and strong opponent, I’m very happy about the opportunity. I’m ready,” said Kabayel at a press conference in London on Wednesday evening.

Saudi Arabia is thus attracting the next boxing spectacle after Fury took on MMA star Francis Ngannou in a show fight in Riyadh a few weeks ago. The long-awaited heavyweight unification fight between Fury and Ukrainian Alexander Usyk is also set to take place in the desert state
