Bizarre Federer Moment During Zverev Match

Alexander Zverev got off to a late start against Jiri Lehecka. Roger Federer, watching from the stands, caused a crazy scene right at the start of the match.

What a crazy moment involving Roger Federer. The 44-year-old Swiss unintentionally caused a stir in the early stages of the Wimbledon round of 16 match between Alexander Zverev and Jiri Lehecka.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion was sitting completely alone in the Royal Box. After British player Arthur Fery’s thrilling victory, all the other guests had left their seats. Only the legend didn’t want to miss a single rally.

Commentator hails Federer as the “greatest tennis lover”

Prime commentator Jan Platte celebrated the moment: “Lonely and alone. The greatest tennis lover the Royal Box could possibly have. Home alone! The great Roger Federer.”

José Morgado, one of the best-known tennis journalists, also noticed the scene: “There are four people in the entire grandstand—and one of them is Federer. You have to love him.”

Federer had probably never experienced such tranquility in his “living room” before. No one was disturbing him far and wide. And the Swiss? He was clearly enjoying the moment of silence. Sitting in the front row, he watched the Zverev match completely relaxed.

Federer’s presence throws Paolini off her game

Federer spent the entire day on Center Court. His presence threw Jasmine Paolini off her game against Alexandra Eala, as the Italian later admitted.

Federer then watched Fery’s match against Grigor Dimitrov with Formula 1 star Kimi Antonelli sitting next to him. And when many people left afterward, Federer stayed.

After all, Federer had played several matches against Zverev during his career, which he ended in 2022.
