Abyss is Back: Map Returns to the Valorant Rotation

Riot Games recently released Patch 13.04 for Valorant. This patch not only fixed bugs and glitches but also finalized the map pool for the competitive scene.

With this update, Riot Games has finalized the internal selection of maps that will be played during the World Championship, Valorant Champions. In addition to Abyss, the following maps are back in the rotation: Ascent, Haven, Lotus, Split, Summit, and Sunset.

Breeze was reintroduced to the map pool several patches ago (12.00). At that time, Riot Games extensively revamped the map, and it subsequently replaced Sunset—which, however, later returned to the selection as well. Abyss, on the other hand, was last playable through March 17 before it was temporarily removed from the rotation.

Haven is the map that has been in the current map pool the longest. It has been playable since June 11, 2024, and has not been removed or replaced since then.

Five maps remain the same

Compared to the map selection at the last World Championship, Abyss, Ascent, Haven, Lotus, and Sunset have remained the same. However, Bind and Corrode have been removed and replaced by Split and Summit for the upcoming World Championship.

The tournament begins on September 24 and culminates in the grand final, which will be held on October 18. For the first time, a Chinese metropolis—Shanghai—has been selected as the host city for the season’s most important competition.
