Yamaha bows to Jack Miller’s pressure: He will remain with the Pramac team in 2026

Jack Miller publicly applied pressure, and behind the scenes, the decision was made—the Australian will remain with Pramac—Oliveira is set to leave MotoGP

Yamaha has decided who will be Toprak Razgatlioglu’s teammate in the Pramac satellite team for the 2026 MotoGP season. After weeks of uncertainty, Jack Miller has been given preference over Miguel Oliveira.

Thursday was the decisive day. Miller exerted clear pressure during his media round at midday. “I’ve been patient enough. If they want me, they want me. If not, then they don’t,” said the Australian in no uncertain terms.

The veteran also added that he has opportunities outside the MotoGP paddock: “I have options, and I will turn to another option.” Miller was alluding to BMW’s interest in bringing him into the Superbike World Championship as Razgatlioglu’s successor.

Miller’s public pressure had an effect, prompting Yamaha management to take action. On Thursday afternoon, a meeting was held in the Yamaha hospitality area with Miller, his manager Aki Ajo, Yamaha director Paolo Pavesio, and Pramac team manager Gino Borsoi.

After the meeting, Miller was in high spirits in the paddock. When asked about the meeting after Friday’s practice sessions, he simply said that he had “apologized for his comments in the media.” Pavesio also remained tight-lipped.

According to Motorsport.com Spain, a contract extension was presented at this meeting. The 30-year-old agreed. Only the signature and the final details are still pending. Yamaha could officially confirm the agreement in the coming days.

Recently, Manuel Gonzalez was another name linked with this seat at Pramac. Sources close to the Moto2 World Championship leader said on Friday in Hungary that there had been “some talks” with Yamaha, but that nothing concrete had been decided.

It is therefore certain that Gonzalez will continue to ride for the German IntactGP team in Moto2 next year. This has been agreed for some time. Only if Gonzalez had secured a permanent MotoGP seat would the two have parted ways.

Developments in Hungary seal Oliveira’s definitive departure from Pramac-Yamaha. Last year, the Portuguese rider signed a two-year contract ahead of Miller, but it contained a performance clause.

Oliveira was unable to fulfill this clause due to his injury in Argentina. With no other teams having any places available, the Portuguese rider is set to leave MotoGP. His future is uncertain. He is said to have received an offer from Yamaha for the Superbike World Championship.

The die has also been cast at another racing team. Franco Morbidelli revealed in Hungary that he has received news from VR46 about his future, but is not yet allowed to talk about it. He will continue to ride for Valentino Rossi’s team next year. Official confirmation should come at the latest at the home race in Misano.
