WWE shockwaves around Austrian star!

A new, old World Champion is crowned at WWE RAW: Gunther defeats Jey Uso in a WrestleMania rematch two days after Money in the Bank. Meanwhile, a legendary feud is reignited.

The most successful German-speaking wrestling export in history is back on top: Viennese show fighter Gunther (real name: Walter Hahn) is World Champion at WWE for the second time.

On the latest edition of the weekly TV show Monday Night RAW, the 37-year-old won his WrestleMania rematch against “Main Event” Jey Uso, regaining a leading role in the upcoming wrestling summer.

WWE RAW: Gunther is World Champion again

While Gunther was defeated at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas when Uso used his own special move – the sleeper hold – against the “Ring General,” the same scenario ended differently this time around: Gunther countered Uso’s version of the sleeper hold and knocked Uso unconscious with his own sleeper hold. The match was then stopped in Gunther’s favor according to the rules.

The fact that Uso went into the match injured played a role: his previous rival Logan Paul had attacked Uso’s ribs last Friday, and Gunther deliberately exploited this heavily bandaged weak spot.

Gunther’s renewed title win may have something to do with the fact that his long-rumored match against legend Bill Goldberg seems to be getting closer. According to Goldberg, his farewell match is scheduled for the summer and “in the south.” The obvious choice would be the next edition of the TV special Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 in Goldberg’s hometown of Atlanta – the same day that WWE rival AEW has scheduled its annual highlight, All In.
