WWE announces German festival week

In the run-up to the historic “Bash in Berlin” event, the wrestling market leader is also embarking on a longer tour of three other German cities

First it was a day of celebration, then a weekend of celebration – only it turns into a week of celebration: In the run-up to the first major WWE event on German soil, not only will an edition of the TV show Friday Night SmackDown be broadcast live from Germany for the first time, there will also be a tour of three other German cities,

As the wrestling empire announced on Monday, there will be a live event series under the label “Road to Berlin” immediately before the “Bash in Berlin” on August 31: August 27 in Oberhausen (Rudolf Weber Arena), August 28 in Stuttgart (Porsche Arena) and August 29 in Frankfurt (Festhalle).

There will also be events in Rotterdam and Brussels on August 25 and 26. On the official poster, WWE advertises with former WWE Champions Kevin Owens, AJ Styles and Bobby Lashley, former women’s champions Bianca Belair and Bayley as well as the Street Profits, LA Knight, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.

On August 30, 2024 – one day before “Bash in Berlin” – the Friday show’s “Go-Home-Show” will also take place in Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, as announced last year.

WWE Bash in Berlin 2024 – a historic wrestling novelty

“Bash in Berlin” will be the first “Premium Live Evet” ever to take place on German soil: Unlike the other German shows, the event will be broadcast live to all international markets, the regular TV shows RAW and SmackDown will work for weeks towards the matches scheduled there, much like the other “PLEs” WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Co.

The league – which, like the UFC, recently became part of the new combat sports conglomerate TKO – has been increasingly focusing on major events outside the USA for some time now. Now the German market is also benefiting from the trend, not least because of the prominent role that the German-speaking Imperium group (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) has taken on in the WWE program.

Last year, WWE also made the first major event in France official, with Backlash 2024 taking place in Lyon on May 4.
