WSBK career over: Leon Haslam switches from Honda to Kawasaki

Ex-Superbike runner-up Leon Haslam returns to the British Superbike Championship and is looking to claim his second title with Kawasaki

Leon Haslam’s WSBK career has come to an end. The experienced Briton did not find a place in the World Superbike Championship for the 2022 season and returns to the British Superbike Championship. In the 2018 season, Haslam was able to win the Superbike Championship in the BSB. This year he wants to fight for the title again.

Haslam will compete for Lee Hardy Racing and pilot a Kawasaki ZX-10RR. The Briton was already on a Kawasaki in his BSB title season. Haslam also rode for Kawasaki in his return to the World Superbike Championship the following year.

After two disappointing years with Honda in the World Superbike Championship, Haslam hopes to be able to fight for victories again in his home country. Honda is banking on two young Spaniards in 2022.

“I’m really excited to be back in the British Championship and to be reunited with Kawasaki,” commented the BSB returnee. “I’ve had a difficult few years behind me. So I’m looking forward to riding at the front again in front of the home fans. “

In BSB, Haslam will face some strong opponents. He is also likely to race against ex-WSBK rival Tom Sykes, who is about to sign with PBM-Ducati. “I realise it will be difficult against the other riders but I am looking forward to the challenge. I put a lot of faith in the team,” said Haslam.
