Nick Woltemade is set to make his first start for Juventus Turin. As reported by TuttoJuve, manager Luciano Spalletti is expected to start the German forward in Thursday’s Europa League match against NEC Nijmegen. The 24-year-old has made two substitute appearances for the Bianconeri so far since joining on loan from Newcastle United. He could now be given significantly more time to prove himself in the Turin side’s attack.
Juventus are hoping, above all, that Woltemade will offer a different profile to Randal Kolo Muani. The German striker is expected to bring qualities to the attack that the French international does not embody in the same way.
Woltemade has been waiting for a goal since May
Just like Woltemade, Kolo Muani has also been waiting for his first goal since returning to Turin. With a place in the starting line-up, the former Stuttgart player would have the opportunity to increase his influence on the game and put himself forward for further appearances under Spalletti.
This more prominent role could also help to rebuild the striker’s confidence. Woltemade has not scored since May. In total, he has scored just two goals for his clubs since February.
