Wittmann and van der Linde Chase a Special DTM Milestone at the Nürburgring

The two Schubert BMW drivers, Marco Wittmann and Kelvin van der Linde, have already won twice at the Nürburgring: What a third DTM victory would mean

The Nürburgring is an integral part of the DTM racing calendar: The Eifel circuit is the only track where at least one DTM race has been held every season to date—whether on the short circuit, where the DTM will also race in 2026, the GP layout, or the legendary Nordschleife.

Over the years, nearly 100 DTM races have been held in the Eifel region, and a total of 22 drivers have celebrated more than one victory there. Among them are former DTM champions such as Mattias Ekström, Martin Tomczyk, and Sheldon van der Linde, each of whom has two Nürburgring wins to their credit.

However, at least three victories are required to make it into the current top 10 of the most successful DTM drivers at the Nürburgring. Among those who have reached this milestone are former champion Bruno Spengler, Laurent Aiello, and Alessandro Nannini.

Schubert drivers with a successful history at the Nürburgring

This year, the current starting grid includes two drivers who have already triumphed twice at the Nürburgring and who, with one more victory, would also join the ranks of the most successful DTM drivers in the Eifel region: namely, the two Schubert drivers Marco Wittmann and Kelvin van der Linde.

The BMW drivers are on the hunt for their third victory at the Nürburgring this season. Wittmann was successful in the BMW M4 DTM in both 2014 and 2016 and wants to put an end to his now ten-year drought at the foot of the Nürburg. After his two Audi victories in 2021 and 2024, Van der Linde now has his sights set on his first BMW triumph.

With Lucas Auer (Landgraf-Mercedes) and Miko Bortolotti (Grasser-Lamborghini), there are also two current drivers who already have at least one Nürburgring victory to their credit and who, with a perfect weekend and two wins, could also reach three victories—even if that is statistically rather unlikely.

And even with that, they would still be a long way from the three most successful drivers at the Nürburgring: Our photo gallery featuring the most successful DTM drivers at the Nürburgring reveals who they are and how many victories the undisputed leader has racked up over the course of his career in the Eifel region.
