With a 5-0 rout: Frosinone joins Venezia in Serie A

Venezia had already secured its place as the first team to be promoted to Serie A before the final matchday. Frosinone joined the ranks on the final matchday, confidently doing what was required of them.

Following its relegation in the 2024/25 season, FC Venezia returned directly to Serie A just one year later—a fact already confirmed before the 38th and final matchday of Serie B. The second promotion spot was technically still up for grabs, but Frosinone held a three-point and eight-goal lead over third-place Monza and could therefore virtually guarantee its promotion to the top flight.

Nevertheless, coach Massimiliano Alvini’s team confidently dispelled any remaining doubts in their home match against Mantova. After just twelve minutes, Frosinone led 2-0 thanks to a penalty kick by Calo and an own goal by Castellini, and the promotion party could begin. The home side didn’t let the victory slip away; instead, they played with a sense of euphoria and won decisively 5-0 following goals by Ghedjemis, Raimondo, and Koutsoupias. It marks a return to Italy’s top flight after two years.

Monza thus remained in third place and is one of six teams advancing to the playoffs. There, the third team to be promoted to Serie A will be determined. Before the final matchday, Palermo, Catanzaro, Modena, and Juve Stabia had already secured their spots in the promotion round. The last remaining ticket to the playoffs was secured on the final matchday by US Avellino, which narrowly won its home game against Modena 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Bagheria and defended its 8th-place finish.

Bari heads to the relegation playoffs

The final decisions were also made on Friday at the bottom of the table. On the final matchday, three teams were hoping for a slip-up by 17th-place Bari, but that didn’t happen, as SSC won 3-2 at Catanzaro, with Piscopo emerging as the match-winner with a brace. Thus, Delfino Pescara, Spezia Calcio, and AC Reggiana are confirmed as the teams relegated from Serie B.

Joining Bari in the relegation playoffs is FC Südtirol, which was overtaken by Virtus Entella (2-1 win against Carrarese Calcio) due to its 1-1 draw against Juve Stabia.
