Timo Glock’s problems in the DTM continue: In the Eifel, he is now driving his teammate’s McLaren—the team wants to create transparency
The Dörr team is leaving no stone unturned to solve Timo Glock’s persistent performance problems in the 2025 DTM season. With upcoming races at the Nürburgring, the veteran driver will once again be changing cars.
Glock will drive the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo in the Eifel, which has previously been used by his teammate Ben Dörr. Despite his promising position in the DTM junior standings, the son of team boss Rainer Dörr is making his car available and switching to the vehicle previously used by Glock.
“We are confident that this move will also set a positive example of team spirit and responsibility in professional sports,” said Glock. “Ben has shown tremendous character here, which is not something that can be taken for granted.”
“Every racing driver has a special relationship with his race car, so a decision like this is never easy. But it shows what our team and Ben stand for: loyalty, fairness, and a sporting mindset that goes beyond individual interests,” said team boss Rainer Dörr, praising his son.
With the change of vehicles, Dörr also wants to send a clear signal to the DTM community. After Glock had clearly been overshadowed by his young teammate in the 2025 DTM season so far, there had been increasing discussion about alleged differences between the individual vehicles. Dörr wants to create transparency with the vehicle swap.
The racing team also feels compelled to take this action because a completely new car for Glock is still not ready. Due to problems with both Glock’s original car and the replacement chassis, Dörr ordered a new vehicle from McLaren in June.
Despite intensive cooperation with McLaren, a binding delivery date is currently not feasible, as the team announced. Current statements indicate availability at the earliest at the end of August—a time frame that, due to the tight DTM calendar, leaves little room for the race-ready preparation of a completely new car.
